I hope you have been enjoying your time collecting all the Happy Places and maybe found some new Happy Places you would like to be!!
My Happy Place started a few years ago. When our children were growing up my husband and I always said that when we became empty nesters we would get ourselves a motorcycle and just enjoy the countryside from the back of a bike!!
Trying to instill the love of adventure in my grandchildren with the quote in their hideout playroom under the stair steps of our home.
Well we did that--and oh how we enjoy it!! So much so that we purchased a little used pickup camper so we could put the motorcycle on a trailer to pull behind the pickup.
Then I come up with adventures and places to ride!! And my dear husband makes it happen!! I found a good one and plan on keeping him!! You can read about our first camper trip to Yellowstone National Park HERE.
I have included several ways to make the Arrow blocks in the pattern. I use the AccuQuilt Triangle in a Square die #55410. The Tri-Recs ruler is also a great way to cut out these different pieces.
I choose to fussy cut the camper fabric so the campers would be going straight down the roads!!
A little evening time sewing beauty!!
Included in the row pattern are the letters already reversed to use with fusible web tracing. I chose to use the Silhouette cutting machine to cut my letters. Either way will work fine--I was just in a time crunch as usual!!
I used Island Batik solid black--this a new fabric they have come out with recently--it is the nice high thread cound fabric but in just a solid color. It worked amazing with the cutting machine.
Apply Heat and Bond Lite to back of fabric. Place on cutting mat fabric side up. These are the settings I used--Blade-5, Speed-2, and Thickness-33. Also the font is Exotic 350 Bd BT in size 120 if you are wanting to try this yourself. It is just the coolest thing ever!!
Just a few walking foot wavy lines for quilting to keep everything in it's place. And to give the feel of going down the road on the next adventure!!

When I was young, our family camped in a pickup camper (all five of us!). Not sure where you should travel next--somewhere warm!

I love to travel and see our beautiful country, and we have been fortunate to visit 47 of our 50 states. Those are Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Our 1st trip was in 1965 when we drove and camped in a VW bug from IL to CA and back. Ron had fixed the car so that the whole thing made into a bed, and everything we had with us was in the car with us. We carried two containers with water (one with soap) by the engine, so when we stopped for the night, we had hot water for washing. Traveling has changed over the years, but this summer we have traveled with one of our daughters and her 4 children in their 1984 Shasta travel trailer. They will be returning home in November, and I will be really missing them. But I am so glad we have had this time!
Fun, Fun and more Fun, what a fabulous pattern to describe your travels. I'd love to spend our retirement on the road and a motorcycle gives you such great freedom, driving down the road with the smell of the air and the beauty nature provides. I think your next trip should be to the Arches, Dead Horse Point, Canyonlands, Bryce, and Zions National Park. They are perfect for motorcycles and the scenery is drop dead gorgeous thru that area of Utah... Of course, the four corners are not too far off also. I'm so happy you chose to participate with us this year in the row along Terri, and I hope you'll come along for the 5th year also.

I rode a motorcycle when I first graduated high school. It was right when the gas crisis started, and you couldn't always get gasoline. It was great to be able to get 100 MPG on the bike!! Thanks so much for being a part of the row-along! I tried to download it, but either Craftsy is having issues or my computer is, because it won't let me download it. I'll keep trying till it works, so no problem there. Even your reCAPTCHA is all words on my computer, instead of having a place to click. Strange, but I clicked on where it said, "I'm not a robot" and it says it worked, so I guess it's all good! :-) Again, thanks for your row!! Love it!!!
What a fun adventure you two are having!! Traveling together making Heart Memories!! :) We had wonderful trip..in a car tho lol...to Kansas afew Summers ago. Hubby's brother & family lives near Wichita. Was great trip..went to nephew's Wedding & then spent the week with Bro & his wife...saw some great sights & ate yummy food out...& at their house too. When we left there..stopped in Oklahoma & visited a friend he had worked with for years here in Ohio.
Love your row. It brings back memories of family trips to both borders and both coasts. (It helps to live in the middle.)

Cute row and great idea! I have no idea where you live, but my recommendation is the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is my life goal to enjoy the full parkway and drive the entire length in sections, so as to enjoy it!

I love your row and the story behind it. I also rode a motorcycle. My husband and I rode our bikes down to NC one year for the Honda Hoot (we both had Hondas). My husband got to where it wasn't comfortable for him to ride so we sold our bikes. Some day I may get another one.

That's just wonderful that you do that! We lived full-time in our 5th wheel for the last 5 years of my husband's life, and I wouldn't trade those years for anything. I'd love to do it all over again. I could suggest Flagstaff, Arizona in the summer - lots of great places to see (Montezuma's Castle ruins, for instance! Oh, yeah, and that big place they call the Grand Canyon! LOL) within a short distance in AZ and in UT, well and CO (Don't miss camping in Delores along the river, or the steam train in Durango, or maybe the one in Cumbres, NM, and camping along the Rio Chama or the Brazos - and fishing, if you like that!) and NM, too, actually - the four corners area! Lots of free forest and other campgrounds, the canyonlands of Utah, just a ton of good things.
Or there's western North and South Dakota, and Eastern Montana and Wyoming, too. You could be in Rapid City for the Harley days, visit Mt. Rushmore, go to Crazy Horse monument and see the laser light show, see Leadville in the cool mountain top, check out the Powder Horn Mountains, Glendive, MT, and the Yellowstone River - just lots of wonderful places to visit all along there. Don't miss the Enchanted Highway - taller than lifesize artwork all along the road every few miles. If I remember right, it runs from US 12 up to I-94, in western North Dakota. It's clearly marked from the turnoff on US 12, between Lemmon, SD and Hettinger, ND. And comes out just east of Dickinson, I think.
The eastern part of the state isn't to be ignored either. Seeing Sioux Falls in the park in downtown Sioux Falls, and in Mitchell visiting the Corn Palace - not to be missed! And of course, there are quilt shops here there and yonder, too!
Two places we spent a lot of time, but our country is full of wonderful places. Take a US highway anywhere and stay off the interstates, and you'll find amazing things. =)
What fun to camp and ride the motorcycle. One of our favorite places to go is the 1000 islands in New York. Beautiful scenery.

I'm a bit afraid of riding a motorcycle, but I'd love to take a camper to the mountains in Scotland! Since you'd get awfully wet trying that, you can't go wrong checking out the Appalachians - which Scotland's mountains were once attached to. :)

How wonderful for the two of you. This was our retirement plan also, but unfortunately health issues dictate we can no longer ride the bike... We will find other things to do...and leaves more time to sew ;)
Your row could so easily be my husband's new motto since he retired. We've taken 3 long trips already this year and have one more planned before Christmas. He can hardly sit still anymore and wants to wander all over! Great row with so much meaning!
Your row is perfect for those of us who are retired and get to just go where the wind blows! I used to do just that with my ex, but now find the sedentary life suits these old bones just fine! I often wander down memory lane, wonder what those wonderful places look like now and enjoy my time sewing, reading new to me bloggers and finding inspiration in these wonderful blocks designed by people like you.
