Cultivate some projects with Vincent's Garden fabrics....

Oh my...it seems like forever ago that Karen of The Quilt Rambler invited me to design something with her 1st Signature fabric line by Island Batik. Karen and I are online friends who met while we were both Island Batik Ambassadors. We have yet to meet IRL (in real life), but hope to someday soon!!

The colors in this Vincent's Garden line are bright and oh so vibrant!! Such a great contrast between the warm--reds, oranges and yellows vs. the cool--blues and turquoises. And as is with all Isalnd Batik fabrics, the details in the batik fabrics are so cool. One of the blue fabrics has a super cool swirl in it that reminds me of a swirl in a Vincent Van Goh painting. Like I said--I love the details that Island Batik puts in their fabrics.

From the designs I submitted to Karen, she choose this design--Cultivate to be made with Vincents' Garden fabrics. As you can see--by working with only the cool colors in the line a whole different feeling can be made. This pattern is available on my website HERE.

I had a lot of fun quilting Cultivate. The spikey plant column in the sashing, pointy flowers in the green sqaures, then lots of texture through the paper pieced plants and flower pots. Super texture that tells more of the Cultivate story.

I had a test block left from the original Cultivate quilt--so thought it would be a fun little project to share for Karen's blog hop. The succulent plant pattern is available in the Cultivate pattern--but I have added the cut dimentions for a pillow here for you to have fun with.

Below you will find the complete list for this week's hop--make sure to see all the other amazing projects that were made with Vincents' Gardent line.

I like the idea of a pillow to go with the quilt. The colors remind me of spring.

Two lovely projects. By focusing on the cools you made this a much easier project by taking out some of the decision making with the fabric. And thank you for the measurements for the pillow.

Cultivate reminds me of my friend's grandmother, whom we called 'Buddy'. She had an amazing succulent garden on the terrace of her apartment--it was like walking into another world, one she tended to with the same loving devotion she gave each of us, her children, grandchildren, or those simply lucky enough to be in her orbit. Whenever I see a succulent pattern I think I really should start making mini quilts for each of us blessed to have been on the receiving end of Buddy's tender care.

It is neat to see just the cool colors from this collection--shows how versatile a fabric collection can be! Fun pattern.

Lizard is a precious creature to keep as a pet. It is a quite specie which doesn’t want any special care or space to keep. Lizards can make a great bond with owner when you give some extra time to it.
